This course is an introduction to the nature of moral right and wrong
(metaethics), fundamental theories of what is morally right and wrong
(normative ethics), and some exploration of real life issues of moral
right and wrong (applied ethics). Views discussed will range from those
in ancient Greece to philosophers living today.
Among the issues in applied ethics we will discuss will be
abortion, capital punishment, homosexuality, war and terrorism, the treatment of animals, and the environment.
This course may not make you a better person, but it should help
you think more clearly about important moral issues.
