Deception: Definitions

Deception=causing someone to have a false belief
Intentional Deception=deceiving on purpose
=intentionally causing someone to have a false belief
Attempted Deception=trying to cause someone to have a false belief (but not succeeding)
Inadvertent Deception=unintentionally causing someone to have a false belief
Lying=intentional deception (or attempted deception) by saying something false
=trying to cause someone to have a false belief by saying something false
Trickery=intentionally causing someone to have a false belief other than by saying something false
Attempted Trickery=trying (but not succeeding) to cause someone to have a false belief other than by saying something false
"Mistaken Deceiver"=inadvertent deception because the deceiver has a false belief
"Faulty inference"=inadvertent deception because the deceived person draws a mistaken conclusion
